For other foundation can no man [person] lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." - I Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)"

—text used by Menno Simons to preface his writings.

Portrait of Jesus by MartinsMenno Simons College Community Church is an evangelical "peace" church in the 16th Century Reformation tradition of the Anabaptist-Mennonite movement. Anabaptist (meaning "rebaptizer") and Mennonite (after the 16th century Dutch reformer named Menno Simons) were early labels given to these "radicals" of their time who believed that Christians should follow Jesus as the ultimate authority for all of life. The labels stuck, and still identifies the spiritual heirs of those early radicals who found their primary identity in Jesus and a church of voluntary members, and not in a particular state or state sanctioned church, the latter being the dominant way of being Christian in the 16th century.

Mennonite Brethren began as a renewal movement within the larger Mennonite community of Russia in the middle of the 19th century (1860). This movement reaffirmed the earlier vision of 16th century reformers such as Menno Simons, who sought to recapture the way of Jesus as lived out in the first century of the common era. The teachings of Jesus, in this tradition, are taken as the primary guide to matters of faith and life. Further understandings of the teachings of Scripture are currently contained in two "Confessions of Faith:" the first is the North American Version and the second is the International (ICOMB) version.

In the spirit of both first century Christians and 16th century reformers, today College Community Church actively invites and welcomes all, including those who may not feel at home in a church but are seeking to know more about what it means to build on the foundation that is Jesus Christ.
