Supportive Care Commission
The Supportive Care Commission pays special attention to the members of our congregation who have ongoing needs for pastoral care.
THE ROLE OF THE SUPPORTIVE CARE COMMISSION IS TO:
- Initiate and implement supportive care models for persons with chronic, long-term conditions or developmental disabilities.
- Serve as a resource for education and awareness on behalf of persons and families dealing with long-term conditions.
The commission fulfills its goals through various actions, including:
- Providing weekly transportation to church events for members who are unable to drive due to disability.
- Serving communion to those who are unable to attend a Sunday morning communion service.
- Educating and resourcing members with long-term needs in matters of self-care and life management, according to commission members' areas of expertise.
- Overseeing the Friendship Class, a Sunday morning meeting for adults with developmental disabilities.
