The goals of the Adult Education Commission are:
- To help each other understand and embody Christ’s teachings as reflected in the Bible.
- To encourage and enable people to come to new life in Christ and grow as disciples.
- To be a sharing and caring community, accountable to one another.
- To engage critically as disciples of Jesus with our culture and our world.
- Studying the Bible
- Reflecting on the nature of God and the world
- Praying together
- Processing information, ideas, and themes
- Sharing personal stories, struggles, and passions
- Creating and sharing artwork
- Creating a forum for presentations by church commissions and guest speakers.
- Linking topics with themes chosen by the council and worship commission
- Cultivating spiritual disciplines (praying, living simply, sharing, fasting, reading scripture, etc.)
- Celebrating people and events
Format/Delivery
The Adult Education Commission uses various formats to accomplish its mission and objectives: large and small group sessions; Sunday mornings and other time-frames; stand-alone sessions and ongoing series.
